Cadee van Aswegen is a ballerina from South Africa who brought a vibrant and expressive presence to a series of ballet photography shoots in New York City. The photo sessions took place at multiple outdoor locations across Manhattan during her participation in the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP), combining classical ballet movement with the raw atmosphere of the city streets. Cadee’s openness, confidence, and visible enjoyment of the photo shoots resulted in dynamic and authentic ballet photography that stands out through its urban character.
The contrast between classical ballet technique and the fast-paced environment of New York City created distinctive images that capture movement, personality, and spontaneity. Cadee was fully engaged throughout the shoots, allowing for creative freedom and natural expression in front of the camera. One of the photographs from the New York City series was selected among the Top 20 images in a YAGP photo challenge, highlighting the strong visual impact of the collaboration. Cadee van Aswegen worked with Contourz Photography in New York City in 2024, producing a unique ballet photography series set against the iconic streets of Manhattan.
